About Kiera McDuff Physiotherapy
About Kiera
Kiera was inspired to become a physiotherapist by her love of movement, having grown up studying modern dance and ballet. She started her physiotherapy career working in hospitals around Toronto with patients recovering from a wide range of illnesses and surgeries. In this setting, she has learned how to apply her knowledge of medical conditions, exercise physiology, and rehabilitation principles to help people stay mobile and as independent as possible while experiencing serious health challenges. She has also had the privilege of helping many people regain their independence and get back to the activities that are important to them, from taking their first steps after a stroke (for example), to leaving the hospital and going home with their loved ones. Kiera also has experience working in rehabilitation centres in Toronto, with a focus on musculoskeletal rehabilitation, helping people to recover from fractures, falls, orthopedic surgeries, traumatic accidents, and deconditioning related to illness. When she is not working as a physiotherapist, she is often outdoors enjoying running, hiking, rock climbing, and camping. She also continues to take dance classes around Toronto.

Kiera's Approach to Physiotherapy
Kiera brings her experience of working with people with orthopedic, neurological and cardiorespiratory conditions, her knowledge of the healthcare system in Toronto, and her passion for movement and exercise to her home care physiotherapy practice, Kiera McDuff Physiotherapy. Her approach prioritizes:
-
Education about your condition so that you feel confident about how to manage it.
-
Exercise-based treatment that is tailored to you to help you recover from your injury and get stronger for the future.
-
Hands on approaches to help settle down your pain and improve your body awareness.
-
Excellent communication and support - Kiera connects with her patients in between sessions through email check-ins, and clear treatment plans that include video instructions. She takes the time to collaborate with your other providers as needed to make sure you feel supported by your team.

Kiera has found that home-based physiotherapy supports her approach to practice and offers convenience and benefits to her patients. Most people are living very busy lives and sometimes living with a health challenge or injury makes it difficult to get around. Having a physio that comes to you means you don't need to travel to and from your appointments and can focus on your treatment and recovery. Also, home care physiotherapy uses the equipment and resources you have available in your home environment. This means that your treatment plan is specific and sustainable in your home setting, which can improve adherence and outcomes.
